Company News
2000, 2001
April 2001 - Bruce Schwab's Open 60 Christening Bruce Schwab's Open 60 (designed by Tom Wylie) will be christened at the Pacific Sail Expo on April 17th. Among the sponsors for this exciting boat will be Forespar Products Corporation. We have provided a considerable number of high-tech carbon fiber composite products from stem to stern and down below.
Bruce's first major outing is scheduled to be the EDS Atlantic Challenge.
December 2000 - DAME Award for Leisure Furl The recent METS Marine and Trade Exhibit in Amsterdam saw the presentation of "Honorable Mention for Design" awarded to the Leisure Furl in-boom furling system. METS is the world's predominant marine trade show and the DAME Award is a very prestigious acknowledgement of Leisure Furl's overall excellence.
The product review panel includes top industry personalities and yacht designers. Leisure Furl continues to impress the sailing industry as well as sailors. Leisure Furl is manufactured in the world yachting centers and distributed worldwide.

November 2000 - NAUQUIP Wins Export Award At this year's METS Marine Trade Show in Amsterdam, Forespar awarded its 2000 Export Agency of the Year Award. Nauquip, based in the U.K. increased its sales of Forespar sailing products by the highest percentage of all Forespar's overseas distributors.
David Harrison of Nauquip pointed out that Forespar products are particularly excellent for meeting the design and quality needs of today's sailors.
October 2000 - Transatlantic with an AeroRig In November 2000 Alan Massey, Forespar's spar division sales manager, will be sailing transatlantic aboard Bill Schnitker's new Sparkman & Stephens 65' with hydraulic furling AeroRig. The boat is nearing completion at the excellent CNB yard in France. The small crew will include Alan's wife Sandy, who in addition to being an experience ocean sailor, is a terrific cook!
September 2000 - Carbon Fiber Spars When it comes to aluminum or carbon fiber spars for cruising boats, Forespar exceeds with top notch engineering, workmanship and finish. If you have a project planned or nearing completion, give us a call. Generally speaking our work covers boats from 40' LOA to 75' LOA.
Recent projects include Steve Wood's Tayana 70' with Leisure Furl and 67' Ketch with a pair of Leisure Furl booms.
August 2000 - Carbon Fiber Poles Carbon fiber spinnaker poles and whisker poles from Forespar have been a hot item the last several seasons. Not only do they make sense for the racing market, but cruisers have seen the great benefits of light, strong, easy to handle poles. Foredeck work aboard shorthanded cruising yachts really becomes manageable when the weight of the poles is cut in half!
Don't forget, your asymmetrical spinnaker will be a much more versatile sail if you use a light weight carbon pole for those deeper downwind angles. Forespar can provide carbon poles from 2" OD up to 10" OD.
February 2000 - The "Mini Galley" Returns: The year 2000 marks the return to the market place of our tremendously popular "Mini Galley" single burner, gimbled stove. Changes in DOT approved "Coleman style" propane canisters makes this great stove an excellent addition to the cooking facilities of racers, cruisers, and trailer-sailers. A quick cup of coffee, tea or hot soup for the watch. Over 15,000 sold.
May 2000 - Recent Addition to Design Office: Pete Hobman brings a solid background in big boat racing and cruising, coupled with yacht design and rig building experience to the busy Forespar design group.
A native of New Zealand, Pete has raced and cruised throughout the South Pacific and more recently the West Coast of the U.S. Along with mast design projects, Leisure Furl in-boom systems will occupy his schedule. He is a welcome addition at a busy time.
July 2000 - Leisure Furl Exceeds Optimistic Projections: The concept of boom roller furling and reefing is not new. Before Leisure Furl there were always functional drawbacks, but those days are over. This confirmed by the marine press and by over 1000 owners of Leisure Furl equipped boats from the thirty to one hundred thirty foot range!
There are Leisure Furl dealer/installers worldwide. If you talk to an owner you will understand why this is the system for real offshore sailing. Leisure Furl will exceed your expectations.
